XANADU

Book by Douglas Carter Beane
Music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar

MAY 4 – 13

At once a hilarious send-up of the cult film of the same name, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, and a feel-good romp through 1980s culture, Xanadu blends satire, parody and drama to create a moving, electrifying tale of endless fun! A magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, descends from Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! This roller-skating, musical adventure about following your dreams, rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, including the songs “Have You Never Been Mellow?,” “Evil Woman,” and, of course the title song, “Xanadu.”
