What makes a monster and what makes a man? Based on the 1996 Disney film and Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame explores the dichotomy between monsters and men through the tale of Quasimodo, the bell-ringer of Notre Dame, who yearns for acceptance beyond the cathedral walls. Amidst his encounters with the compassionate Esmeralda, Quasimodo faces the conflicting desires of his master, the cruel Dom Claude Frollo, and the gallant Phoebus de Martin. As Quasimodo navigates abuse, societal prejudice, and looming danger, the story delves into who truly embodies monstrosity and humanity in the heart of Paris.
